An Exquisite Delight: Pecan Pie Recipe

Pecan Pie

The comforting aroma of freshly baked pecan pie wafting through the kitchen always brings back cherished memories of my childhood. Every holiday season, my grandmother would meticulously prepare this classic dessert, serving it as the crowning jewel of our festive feasts. The rich, buttery crust combined with the decadent filling was enough to capture the imaginations and appetites of everyone in the room.

Pecans

Ingredients:

  • 1 pre-made pie crust (or make your own)
  • 1 ¼ cups of pecans (halves or chopped)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup of light or dark corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup of melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Pie Crust

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Roll out the pie crust to fit a 9-inch pie dish, pressing it into the bottom and up the sides. Trim any excess dough hanging over the edges.

Step 2: Prepare the Filling

In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, corn syrup, sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt until well-combined and smooth.

Step 3: Toast the Pecans

Spread the pecans evenly on a baking sheet and toast them in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes until fragrant, stirring occasionally to prevent burning. Remove from the oven and set aside.

Step 4: Assemble and Bake

Sprinkle the toasted pecans into the prepared pie crust, arranging them in an even layer.

Pour the filling mixture over the pecans, ensuring they are fully coated.

Place the pie dish on a baking sheet to catch any potential spills and place it in the preheated oven.

Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the pie has set and the crust is golden brown. To check if it’s ready, gently shake the pie. The center should be firm, with only a slight jiggle.

Step 5: Let it cool

Remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool completely on a wire rack. It’s best to let it cool for at least a couple of hours or overnight before serving, as the flavors will fully develop.

Variations and Serving Suggestions:

If you’re feeling adventurous, here are a few variations you can try:

  • For a little extra indulgence, drizzle some melted chocolate over the cooled pecan pie.
  • Serve with a dollop of freshly whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
  • Add a sprinkling of cinnamon or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the filling for a subtle twist.

Enjoy the Perfect Pecan Pie!
